Law Enforcement Leadership Course Available
Law Enforcement Leaders:
Following through on your requests, and using your advice, Salt Lake Community College, Utah POST, and the Utah Peace Officers Association have worked together to develop a college-level “Law Enforcement Leadership” course.
Beginning in January, 2021, developing leaders in law enforcement have the opportunity to participate in a semester-long, 3-credit hour course, similar to the matriculated, college rigor, and credit-bearing courses offered at the Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety and the FBI National Academy (University of Virginia).
Restricted to current criminal justice system employees, these classes will meet each week via live, internet broadcast, so they can be “attended” from anywhere. As with all college courses, it will require individual and/or group work (via internet) outside the class time. Course content includes current and relevant information and skills development that will provide emerging leaders with tools to step confidently into increasingly responsible positions of leadership in police organizations. Participants will learn to collaboratively address the “wicked problems” our criminal justice system is currently facing.
Cost for the class is less than $600 per student! Fulltime Law Enforcement Officers may qualify for Utah’s Public Safety Officer Career Advancement Reimbursement (PSOCAR) Program – up to 50% tuition and fees.
Please consider the attached information sheet and carefully select a candidate from your agency to enroll in this course. Registration is open NOW!
