Course Registration and Availability

General Information
To register for in-service training courses, candidates should have their agency administrator or training coordinator register them for the training through the POST Portal at utah.acadisonline.com

If you do not have a POST Portal account- please send an email with your full name and agency to: support@utahpost.org

The training officer will be the only person allowed to register officers for POST sponsored courses.

The agency administrator or training officer will receive notice by e-mail prior to the start of the class with information on the class such as location, time, materials needed, and equipment to bring. The training officer is responsible for disseminating this information to their officers.

POST will do everything possible to accommodate department requests for training. If more requests are received than can be accommodated for a particular course, POST will consider scheduling additional classes within the training year. Some seminars are limited by contractual agreement others are limited simply because of the nature of the seminar or physical space available.

Should a cancellation be necessary, please notify the In-Service training section as soon as possible so another officer may fill the vacant slot.  A cancellation notice may be sent to support@utahpost.org.

Enrollment and Schedule Changes
The information contained in “Course Listing” on this site will be up dated periodically. You may find new classes, class locations, and any course changes. POST strives to give the best possible service available. You can assist POST by letting others know of the this internet site.

Attendance and Participation
Enrollment and participation in the courses contained in the course listing are open for law enforcement or dispatch professionals who are currently employed by a public safety agency. Unauthorized attendance at POST training courses by non-peace officers or non-certified dispatchers is prohibited.

Dorm Facility

In-Service Training Rules And Regulations
Punctuality when attending in-service training classes is imperative. Participants are expected to conduct themselves in an adult and professional manner at all times. No loud, abusive, or obscene language will be tolerated. Dress code for attending POST classes is a neat, clean, and professional appearance. Slacks, shirts with collars, and/or department uniform may be worn. No shorts, open toed shoes, sweats, tank tops, or t-shirts are permitted.

No food or drinks are allowed in the classrooms at POST. Classrooms must be kept neat and clean.  Smoking, e cigarette vaporizers and smokeless tobacco products are not allowed in any building on the Salt Lake Community College Miller Campus, including POST and the dorms.  This includes student rooms, hallways, bathrooms, entranceways, stairwells and all common areas.  Smoking and smokeless tobacco products are only permitted outside the premises and are subject to the Utah Clean Air Act requirements.

No alcoholic beverages of any kind are permitted. Gambling is not permitted at any time or place at POST. All trash and cigarettes must be disposed of properly.

Basic training recruits with UDC and POST will not store weapons or ammunition in the dorms; this includes O.C. spray, Tasers and less than lethal weapons of any kind.

Sworn officers attending in-service training will be permitted to wear duty weapons when staying in the dorms.  Officers choosing to carry weapons are subject to rules and regulations regarding the carrying or possession of firearms and deadly weapons while in and about the training facility.  Weapons should not be removed from holsters except for policy-approved situations or to secure the weapon when staying in the dorms. Officers shall not engage in any unsafe activity or “horseplay” involving firearms.

Cleaning and “dry firing” weapons will not be permitted in the residence halls or dorm rooms.

Attendance Policy: 
Students will be required to attend all training unless an emergency exists or a valid excuse is given. A certificate of training will not be given to anyone who has missed more than 10% of the course.

Classroom Humor/Demeanor:
Each student and instructor is responsible to make sure the most professional conduct among members of the class occurs. Humor is an important element of interpersonal relations. However, ethnic, racial, gender, obscene or otherwise questionable humor is unacceptable. We believe a professional environment, free from all forms of discrimination, including sexual harassment, provides for a better training opportunity and atmosphere.

Parking
Officers attending POST classes may park in the north or south lot. The west lot, adjacent to the building and all parking stalls marked with blue lines are reserved for staff.
