Description:
This course is designed to meet the statutory requirements under 17-22-1.5 (County Sheriff Qualifications) for Sheriff candidates in the State of Utah. This training will be coordinated through POST and is scheduled for five days, at the POST Academy, located at 410 W. 9800 S., Sandy, Utah.
The goal of this course is to expose the sheriff candidate to issues and challenges that may arise while managing a correctional institution. This class will offer some management strategies to assist the candidate with averting and/or minimizing exposure to lawsuits generated from such an environment. This will be accomplished by identifying some of the high exposure areas within the correctional environment.
All sworn officers are invited to register, however, sheriff candidates will be given first priority to attend.
The course is limited to 30 students. The course will be cancelled unless a minimum of 5 students are registered.
