POST Instructor Development – Classroom Facilitator

This class is required for officers who want to instruct POST-sponsored basic training or in-service courses. The POST Instructor Development Program provides the knowledge and skills to design, develop, and implement training courses. The classroom facilitator course builds on the concepts of evidence-based professional learning, including facilitating classroom engagement through activities, assessments, classroom management, and technology integration.

Individuals who complete the Instructor Development – Classroom Facilitator course will be recognized as POST-certified classroom instructors for three years from the issue date. A re-certification course is required to extend the certification for three years.

This course is a hybrid, with two days in the classroom and one day completing the capstone assignment. Students must also complete a knowledge assessment and a lesson plan assignment to complete the course.

To apply for the course, participants should have the Agency Administrator or Training Coordinator register them for the training through the POST Acadis Portal. Participants should be affiliated with an agency or academy and intend to teach for that agency or academy.
Please contact instructordevelopment@utahpost.org if interested in being a trainer for this course.

Cancellation Policy: Due to the demand for this course, a one-week cancellation is required. If you register and fail to cancel at least one week (7 days) before the first day of class, you will not be considered for this training for the next class offered. This is to give consideration to those on a waitlist and also fill the current class.

Required Equipment: Each participant must bring a laptop to reference the student manual and participate in the classroom activities. The facility will provide Wi-Fi and power.
